Nutrition is a key foundation of good health and there are many opportunities to support the public in their understanding of how to achieve this.
Not every interaction with the public needs a individual to have the depth and breadth of knowledge and competency in nutrition science as a registered nutritionist or dietitian. There are a wide range of jobs and volunteering activities that help to provide basic nutrition advice to the public, with this wider nutrition workforce having a key role in improving public health.
We believe that everyone, at all levels, engaged in nutrition should be competent and confident in their ability to deliver evidence-based nutrition information that is relevant to their role.
Therefore in addition to the quality assurance of training and the setting of competence standards for those who wish to become registered nutritionists, we also support the development of the wider workforce.
