School Food Nutritionist

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
We are looking for a Nutritionist to work as part of the Food Team to advise HCL on all nutritional matters relating to the feeding of pupils, supporting HCL’s ethos of Healthy Eating. You will have responsibility for devising menus and providing them through HCL’s online Allergy Management System, allowing HCL to feed pupils with special dietary needs.
To advise HCL on all food related legislation, standards and guidance from industry bodies.
Key Areas:
- Managing Special Diet applications through the HCL Allergy portal.
- Devising recipes and menus using a Nutritional database.
- Work collaboratively with the Food & Menu Chef and Food & Menu Coordinator to ensure HCL’s main menus are compliant to industry standards.
· Using specialist knowledge to respond to food, allergy, and nutritional related queries from stakeholders.
· Screen all products for allergens before allowing them to be used in Primary Schools.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Recognised Nutrition/Dietetic degree or BSc relevant degree.
· Registered Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN)
· At least 2 years’ professional experience in menu nutritional analysis
· Understanding of creation of special diet menus for individuals with specific dietary needs.
· Working knowledge of various nutritional software (preferably Civica – Saffron)
· Knowledge of the school fool standards and other relevant legislations are preferable.
· Effective IT, admin skills and proof-reading ability
· Ability to prioritise workload within demanding timescales.
· Strong Interpersonal & Communication skills
